GREENSPACE

This six month project will focuses on sustainability and environmental awareness across Skye & Lochalsh, whilst also encouraging young people to explore how we, as an island community, can live more sustainably and better understand the world around us. As part of the GreenSPACE initiative, our YouthSPACE teams will be conducting research, gathering interviews and soundbites, and learning directly from experts in the field. Their work will also coincide with improvements being made to the Radio Skye studio in an effort to become more environmentally sustainable in an eco-friendly building.

The project will culminate in a GreenSPACE Conference, to be held on Thursday 26 April 2026 at LAS Theatre & Cinema in Portree. The event will showcase the work and research that has been carried out during the project, and we hope it will serve as a meaningful platform for conversation, inspiration, and collaboration across the island community.

The project is being led by Sam MacLelland, Studio Assistant at Radio Skye, with support from YouthSPACE Mentor Robert John MacInnes and Station Manager Suzy Lee. Make sure to keep follow the Radio Skye social media pages and the website for coverage of the project as it progresses!
