Speculation Highlander reboot is filming in Skye this week

Filming for the upcoming Highlander reboot appears to be under way across the Highlands and Skye, with a number of tourist hot spots affected.

Scottish actor Karen Gillan has been spotted in Tyndrum, where she stopped at the popular Green Welly Stop on Sunday. The sighting has added to growing speculation that production on the new film has now begun.

The Inverness-born star is due to appear alongside Henry Cavill in the remake of the 1986 cult classic.

While filming has not been officially confirmed, several locations are expected to be used.

A number of sites around the Trotternish peninsula are affected. Car parks at the Old Man of Storr, the Quiraing, and Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls are due to close for periods over the coming days. Bride’s Veil car park is expected to remain closed until later this month.

Elsewhere, Eilean Donan Castle is closed to visitors until Thursday 16th, with filming believed to be taking place there.

There are also reports of activity in Glen Affric and Glencoe, where a film crew is expected to base operations later in April.

Highland Council says it cannot share details of specific projects due to confidentiality, but has confirmed a number of temporary closures.

Car park closures:
Kilt Rock / Mealt Falls car park – 15 to 17 April
Quiraing car park – 16 to 17 April
Storr car park – 16 to 17 April
