Tigeropolis coming to Radio Skye!

We will broadcasting the first episode on Monday the 17th of January at 4pm and every week for ten weeks! We will also be airing an accompanying eco feature on Fridays at 4pm which we’ll be sharing more about in the coming week! Plus we’ll be doing a book give-away on the first day of broadcast!
 

There will be an Gaelic and and English version, the Gaelic narrated by Gillebride Mac ‘IllMhaoil and the English by Ashwika Kapur.

It’s a fun, imaginative tale about a family of vegetarian tigers living in the foothills of the Himalayas. Tiger Cubs Bittu and Matti, Mother Tala and their old Uncle Raj all live in Tigeropolis – a forgotten, out of the way wildlife park somewhere in Northern India. The story unfolds episode by episode starting with the tigers suddenly realising they will have to reappear to save their forest home from the bulldozers – they’ve been enjoying a quiet life, hidden away for years so the humans don’t think there are any tigers in the park to attract visitors any more. The tigers have to start roaring and putting on a show to make the park a popular attraction. Then, they have to fight off poachers and other threats. The tigers have fun learning new skills and working with all their animal friends to make the place a success once again.

The story is fun but has serious underlying conservation themes woven neatly into the stories. Based on the popular book series, (there are three books – book 4 comes out late 2022 – an activity book, and an IOS video game), the story has now been adapted for radio by Glasgow-born, Scottish author R D Dikstra.
