Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh wins Digital School Award

Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh has received a Digital School Award.

The prize recognises the school’s commitment to using technology in the classroom.

The scheme is run by the Digital Schools Company, an independent not-for-profit organisation specialising in digital education.

Since its launch in 2015, thousands of schools across the UK and Europe have participated, supporting hundreds of thousands of pupils in developing digital skills.

There are also related awards such as the Digital Wellbeing Award and Equitable Creative Coding Award.

Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Phort Rìgh Primary 4 teacher Eilidh Beaton, said:

“We’re really excited to have achieved the Digital School Award. It’s a brilliant recognition of all the work our pupils and staff have been doing with technology across the school.

“We’ve been using Digital Schools for everything from coding and research, to music, wellbeing and animation projects. We’ve also been able to connect and complete projects alongside other Gaelic schools across Scotland and take part in online learning workshops that we wouldn’t always be able to access as a rural school.

“Every month Primary 7 also take part in Alzheimer Scotland online meetings where they perform and showcase their musical talents to different groups. We’re delighted with the award and really proud of all the hard work the children have put in.”
