Work continuing on new £21m Broadford Primary School
Construction is under way on a new £21 million primary school and community campus in Broadford.
Morgan Sindall Construction began work on the project in May, with completion expected in winter 2027.
The 2,541 square metre campus will include a primary school, nursery and community facilities serving Broadford and the wider South Skye area.
Plans include six primary classrooms, two nursery classrooms, a library, canteen, dining room and games hall. The site will also house a Highland Council Service Point and High Life Highland library.
Work so far has included utility diversions, excavation and ground preparation.

Morgan Sindall says the project is creating opportunities for local contractors and businesses.
The new campus will be built opposite the existing Broadford Primary School. Pupil and school site visits are planned in the coming months.
A separate new school project is also planned for Dunvegan.

Chair of Highland Council’s education committee, Cllr John Finlayson, said:

“I am pleased to see contractors taking a flexible and sympathetic approach to the local community and environment during the building phase and it is encouraging to see that job opportunities are also being created.
“With another new school soon to get underway in Dunvegan, and several other important infrastructure improvements taking shape on the island, including the development of the sports pitch beside the new school in Broadford, it’s an exciting time in Skye.
“Strong and productive partnerships involving council, local members, Sport Scotland, community and government have been key to unlocking investment and driving positive change that will support people of all ages and future generations.”
