Skye drink driver jailed after 115mph police chase
A Skye man has been jailed for eight months after driving at up to 115mph while more than four times the drink-drive limit.
Police received a tip off about a car being driven dangerously at Breakish shortly before 4.30pm on 1 April 2026.
Officers later spotted the car travelling through Kintail and tried to stop it.
Tay Healy, 30, from Portree, failed to stop and a pursuit followed.

He drove at high speed, overtaking other vehicles and crossing onto the wrong side of the road. An oncoming driver was forced off the road to avoid a collision.
Police abandoned the pursuit, but later spotted Healy’s vehicle near Urquhart Castle. He eventually stopped and was arrested.
A breath test found 107 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres. The legal limit is 22.
Healy admitted dangerous driving, drink driving, failing to stop for police, leaving the scene of a crash and driving without insurance.
He was also convicted of possessing two knives in a public place.
Sheriff Neil Wilson said the driving had come close to killing people and imposed a custodial sentence.
Healy has also been banned from driving for two years. He will have to pass an extended driving test before he can regain his licence.
