Gaelic youth theatre Strabang! celebrates 5th anniversary with landmark national festival collaboration
Applications are officially open for the 5th anniversary season of Strabang!, Scotland’s National Gaelic Youth Theatre.
This year’s cohort is set to make history. To mark five years of nurturing young talent, Strabang! is partnering with the national youth theatre festival Positive Stories for Negative Times. Participants will perform a newly commissioned script entirely in Gaelic, a first for the nationwide festival.
The deadline to apply is Friday 19th June 2026.
Tanya MacDonald is the Director of the scheme. She told Radio Skye:
“Strabang! is open to any fluent Gaelic speaking pupils in Scotland between 1st and 4th year. We take them on five weekend residential trips throughout the school year. We go to different places around Scotland, normally somewhere creative like a theatre or an art space, to do drama workshops with them. We see some theatre and have lots of fun on our wee adventures.”
All travel, accommodation and food expenses will be paid by Theatre Gu Leòr, with funding support from Bòrd na Gàidhlig.
