Body of a man found on Cuillin Range
The body of a man has been found on the Cuillin range on Skye during searches for a missing person.
Police Scotland have stated the man is yet to be formally identified but the family of Francis Johnson, 74, who had been reported missing and was last seen at the Glenbrittle campsite on Wednesday 6th September, have been informed.
The body was discovered alongside a rucksack on Saturday following an extensive search operation across the Cuillin involving the Skye Mountain Rescue Team, with assistance from the Kintail Mountain Rescue and Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team, Police Scotland and the Search & Rescue Dog Association and the Stornoway Coastguard helicopter.

Police seek information following Portree thefts
Police on Skye are appealing for information regarding multiple thefts in Portree this month
Items of jewellery, cash, bank cards and personal belongings were stolen during the thefts which occurred between the 4th and 14th of September 2023.

Balnacra level crossing work carried out
Essential maintenance has been carried out at the Balnacra level crossing following an overnight closure on Sunday.
The work was carried out between 10pm on Sunday and 6am this morning to allow the works to be completed on the A890.
Engineers undertook inspect of the rails for signs of corrosion and silt build-up, while assessing the need for any future maintenance.

Shiel ladies claim division championship
Kinlochshiel ladies have been crowned the North Division 2 league champions following a thumping 9-0 win over Lovat on Sunday at Reraig.
The Lochalsh side have won all but one of their league matches this season and will play in the top flight of women’s shinty next season following an excellent season, in which they also won the Mowi Challenge Cup.
