EXCLUSIVE – Progress on plans for Tesco supermarket in Portree
There has been progress on plans to build a Tesco supermarket in Portree, according to emails seen by Radio Skye.
The correspondence indicates the developer behind the proposal has secured internal approval from Tesco and is preparing to submit a planning application within weeks.
In an email sent on 8 April, a director at West Ranga Property Group said the project had now received “full board approval” following delays linked to the “technical nature of the geology and topography of the site”.
The emails state that legal agreements are expected to be concluded “over the Easter period”, with a planning application likely to be lodged within six to eight weeks.
The plans include a 32,000 square foot store and petrol filling station at Drovers Way.
There has been no formal planning application submitted to date.
